Consequences of Success

The consequences of success, or at least your belief about them is the main thing that causes self sabotoge. One of the things I often ask people when I'm coaching them is "What is the downside of achieving what it is you want to achieve?  In other words, what are the consequences of success? This often reveals fears that one has about success.  If these fears or other negative beliefs are held in your subconscious or unconscious mind, they will either keep you from achieving what it is you want to achieve, or when you do achieve it, your fear about the thing could manifest.  You get what you focus on whether it is consciously or unconsciously.  Your mind is very powerful and the key is to recognize this belief and create a new, more powering belief.  Dig deep into the issue by asking yourself what the consequences (down side) would be to getting this.  Remember, you create your own outcome by what you think and believe.  If you have a belief that something negative will happen when you get what you want, recognize it and turn that thinking around by clearing the negative thinking with EFT and imagining a more desired outcome.  What I like to do is come up with an affirmation that would be more empowering and create an EFT setup phrase that instills the new belief of a more positive outcome.

Here is an example of how to handle an unconscious beliefs about the consequences of success around losing weight:

Negative belief: The downside to losing weight is that I will lose all my friends.

Preferred belief: By losing weight, I will inspire my friends to do the same and they’ll call me for support and guidance and will also make new friends who are inspired by me.

Tap: Even though I have this fear that my friends won’t like me anymore if I lose weight, I deeply & completely love and accept myself and choose instead to belief that I will be an inspiration and help them do the same.  Tap on “this fear of losing my friends”, “fear of losing weight AND friends”, “this fear”…

Once you’ve created the affirmation, use the affirmation and a visual of the affirmation in your daily manifestation time when you do Step 3 of your workbook.  If you can eliminate the beliefs about the consequences of success in your mind and create a new belief, the better off you'll be. The more affirmations and positive visualizations that you can come up with around this thing that you want, the stronger your power to manifest it!

You might also ask, "What is the upside of remaining where I'm at?"  Other questions might be, “Where does that belief come from?” and “What happened in the past to make me believe something bad would happen now?”  Think about that event and if there is any emotion behind that, tap it away with EFT.

To make this process simple, I have modified my manifestation worksheet to include space where you can write down what you believe the down side would be of achieving what it is your conscious mind believes it wants to achieve.  If you are a current client, email me and I’ll send you the pdf version.
